Classic Luxury and Elegance: Staying at the Park Hyatt Vendome in Paris, France

by Krish Patel

The hotel scene in Paris is very luxurious, with several boutique hotels and major brands, an example of which is Hyatt. One of Hyatt’s nicest and most high-end properties is the Park Hyatt Paris/Vendome, with excellent service, luxurious amenities, and elegant rooms. On a trip to Paris at the end of last year, I couldn’t wait to stay at the Park Hyatt Vendome and see if it lived up to the hype.

Park Hyatt Paris Location and Convenience

The Park Hyatt in Paris is located very close to Place Vendome on Rue de la Paix. It’s pretty close to some of the city’s best attractions such as the Eiffel Tower, Louvre Museum, and Notre Dame Cathedral, however, walking to the attractions from the hotel can be pretty long and perhaps tiresome. It helps that the hotel is near several of Paris’s metro stations.

If you’re visiting Paris, Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG) is most likely where you’ll be flying into. The Park Hyatt Vendome is located about 40 minutes from any of CDG’s terminals, including 2E, which is where I arrived.

Park Hyatt Paris Amenities, Layout, and Ambiance

The Park Hyatt Vendome has 111 rooms, 45 suites, and a private apartment across six floors. Upon entering the hotel, you’ll notice the front desk, as well as a sculpture created by French artist Roseline Granet. This statue of a human serves as the hotel’s signature work of art. In addition, the sconce lighting in the lobby truly gives the hotel an exclusive feel.

I love that the lobby feels more like an older cozy living room in one’s house. There are several comfortable chairs and even a fireplace surrounded by lamps. The furniture adopts a darker color palette.

Past the front desk and lobby, you’ll come across a set of stairs that leads downstairs, where you’ll find the on-site spa and gym. At the Le Spa, you can enjoy a spa treatment or access the steam room and sauna. I’d suggest visiting the spa during a prime part of the day when it’s open.

The gym is open 24/7 and features a variety of workout equipment, such as mats, weights, and cardio machines. In addition, there are chilled towels and water to stay refreshed.

Located on floor one are the hotel’s business and meeting facilities, with signage to direct you towards the conference rooms.

Park Hyatt Paris Vendome Rooms

The rooms and suites are elegant and luxurious at the Park Hyatt Vendome. During my 4-night stay, I stayed in one of the hotel’s standard suites. Upon entering the suite, I was blown away by the classic ambiance of the room, which included brown wooden walls and accents. There was also a couch, long mirror, and fireplace in the room. All of these take inspiration from a comfortable Parisian apartment.

Stunning artwork is also found in the rooms, including several sculptures and fixtures. I also noticed the same signature human sculpture in my suite.

Provided on the table in the room were bottles of water and fruits. Various snacks and beverages can be found in the mini bar. You’ll find a variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, such as beer, soft drinks, and French wines. As far as snacks, there are some sweet and savory treats. You’ll also find a coffee machine and a selection of coffees and teas in one of the drawers.

In the living room area of the suite is also a desk, which is a pretty great size similar to the one I have at home. You have plenty of space to get work done in the room.

The standard suite features one bedroom that has a queen-size bed. It’s incredibly spacious and looks comfortable with plush pillows and a thick blanket. On either side of the bed is a night stand, as well as outlets for charging and controls for lighting. In front of the bed is a television.

The suite’s main bathroom features a shower and a tub and offers plenty of closet space for storage. While the shower has great water temperature and pressure, its design is somewhat awkward. The shower is situated on a platform raised slightly from the main bathroom floor and doesn’t feel separated from the bathtub. In the shower are premium Blaise Mautin soap products.

The bathroom also features a spacious sink and dedicated toilet room. I love the sink’s gold color and spacious bowl. The toilet seat can be heated to a warm temperature.

There’s also a powder room in the suite, which is slightly smaller, featuring a toilet and sink that are both slightly smaller in size.

Park Hyatt Vendome Food and Drink

At the Park Hyatt Vendome, the dining experience is quite impressive considering that we’re in Paris, a renowned capital for fine dining. The restaurants at the Park Hyatt Vendome range from Michelin-starred dining to one of the nicest breakfast buffets offered by a Hyatt hotel. Room service is also available and includes a lengthy menu selection.

The breakfast buffet at Café Jeanne is quite extensive and consists of delicious French breads, pastries, and baked goods. In addition, you’ll also find several healthier options, including yogurt, fruits, roasted vegetables, eggs, and a selection of cheeses. A dozen tables are scattered around in this formal restaurant setting.

The breakfast menu available on property is also excellent. I especially loved the eggs benedict and exotic fruit plate. Typically, breakfast can cost over $50 per person, however, it’s available complimentary for those with World of Hyatt Globalist status.

Within Café Jeanne is a gorgeous bar that has reflective mirrors and serves as a place to have a cocktail in the later hours of the day.

The property has its own Michelin-starred restaurant helmed by chef Jean-François Rouquette. Pur’ is a fine dining establishment that’s open Tuesday through Saturday for dinner reservations and offers a multi-course tasting menu.

Park Hyatt Paris Service

During my stay, the service provided by the Hyatt staff was phenomenal. The reception workers were consistently very friendly and welcoming, asking me how my stay was and always offering me a table at breakfast.

Booking the Park Hyatt Vendome

A stay at the Park Hyatt Vendome usually costs upwards of $1,000 per night in a standard room, which is on the more expensive side. Despite the steep cash rates, it’s possible to use your World of Hyatt points to book the hotel.

Note that the standard rooms here are bookable on points only for two guests. If there are three or four people traveling with you on points, you’ll have to book two standard rooms. As a Category 8 property in the Hyatt portfolio, expect award rates to be 35,000 to 45,000 points per night for a standard room. Top tier premium suites can cost up to 90,000 points per night depending on the time of year and if it’s the peak travel season.

Hyatt points can be earned by spending on the World of Hyatt Credit Cards (personal or business version). In addition, if you have any of the Chase Sapphire cards or Ink Business Preferred, you can earn transferable Ultimate Rewards points that transfer to Hyatt at a 1:1 ratio.

Overall Thoughts

The Park Hyatt Vendome is truly a wonderful hotel, with exceptional service. It offers great rooms, excellent dining options, and several amenities for guests. Booking a stay at this hotel can be very expensive, whether it be in cash or points. I would strongly recommend staying at this hotel at least once if you’re planning a trip to Paris.
