A Review of the United Club at LaGuardia Airport
by Krish Patel
The United Club at New York LaGuardia Airport is located in the western concourse of Terminal B near gates 40 to 59. It’s open from 5:00 AM to 8:30 PM Monday through Friday, but closes at 7:30 PM on Saturdays. Overall, United’s Lounge at LGA covers all the basics and isn’t that crowded, with plenty of comfortable seating.
United Club LGA Access
Travelers with the United Club Infinite Card ($525 annual fee) can gain entry and bring up to two guests or immediate family. You can also gain entry with Star Alliance Gold status or an international Business Class ticket on a member airline (presumably Air Canada, since it’s the only other Star Alliance airline that flies to LGA).
Guests can also use a one-time day pass to enter if the club isn’t overcrowded. The Chase United Explorer Card includes two annual club passes, or you can purchase one in the lounge for $59.
United Club LGA Seating and Layout
The United Club is designed like a terrace that overlooks the departure hall below. You’ll find seats along the edge and towards the center of the lounge, where power outlets are within an easy reach. The seating is all very comfortable and adopts a mix of light and dark brown tones.
Seating extends all throughout the lounge, with furniture options offering side table space for your personal items. There’s a central work table where you can charge your device and work from your laptop. Bar seating lines the edge of the club and also serves as a great space to work online without being disturbed.
During my visit, it felt as if virtually no seat was being used. There were several open comfortable chairs available for what seemed like miles. I usually fly United from Newark, which has crowded clubs compared to the one at LaGuardia.
In terms of amenities, the lounge offers bathrooms, phone booths, and a wellness area. The bathrooms are clean and basic, with nothing noteworthy to write home of.
The wellness room features a diaper-changing table and is a really small space. It feels cramped and old.
United Club LGA Food and Drinks
The focal point of the United Club at LGA is its bar, which feels bright and stunning. Its offerings are like that of any other club in the system, with complimentary non-alcoholic beverages. Premium cocktails and liquor will cost money. The bar’s shelves are well-decorated with various living room decor.
If you’re looking for a coffee or flavored water, there’s a drink station adjacent to the bar with illy coffee barrels and a water fountain.
The buffet spread is extensive and consists of salads, hot entrees, and charcuterie. Entrees included pasta, meats, and roasted vegetables. There are also assorted desserts laid out in a glass cabinet.
Overall Thoughts
If you’re flying United through LGA and have status, then visiting this lounge might not be a bad option. It's comfortable and never feels crowded given the small number of flights United has from LaGuardia. However, the food options are uninspiring compared to other nearby lounges like the Chase Sapphire Lounge and Amex Centurion Lounge. But if you’re looking for a lounge close to the United Airlines gates, this isn’t a bad place to relax.
